Chosen Family: Mark 3:20-35

Ordinary Time Then he went home, and the crowd came together again, so that they could not even eat.  21  When his family heard it, they went out to restrain him, for people were saying, “He has gone out of his mind.”  22  And the scribes who came down from Jerusalem said, “He has Beelzebul, and by the ruler of the demons he casts out demons.”  23  And he called them to him and spoke to them in parables, “How can Satan cast out Satan?  24  If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.  25  And if a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand .  26  And if Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but his end has come.  27  But no one can enter a strong man’s house and plunder his property without first tying up the strong man; then indeed the house can be plundered. 28  “Truly I tell you, people will be forgiven for their sins and w...

Our Stories, Our Gifts: Word and World (John 1:1-18)

Fourth Sunday of Advent In the beginning was the Word     and the Word was with God     and the Word was God. 2 The Word was with God in the beginning. 3 Everything came into being through the Word,     and without the Word     nothing came into being.   Ordinary Time Joseph could no longer control himself in front of all his attendants, so he declared, “Everyone, leave now!” So no one stayed with him when he revealed his identity to his brothers.  2  He wept so loudly that the Egyptians and Pharaoh’s household heard him.  3  Joseph said to his brothers, “I’m Joseph! Is my father really still alive?” His brothers couldn’t respond because they were terrified before him. 4  Joseph said to his brothers, “Come closer to me,” and they moved closer. He said, “I’m your brother Joseph! The one you sold to Egypt.  5  Now, don’t be upset and don’t be angry with yourselves that you sold me here. Actually, God sent me before you to save lives.  6  We’ve already had two years of famine in the land, and there are five years left without planting or harvesting.  7  God sent me before you to make sure you’d survive and to rescue your lives in this amazing way.  8  You didn’t...
