Unconventional Saints: Leslie Foster: Numbers 27:1-11

Ordinary Time Then the daughters of Zelophehad came forward. Zelophehad was son of Hepher son of Gilead son of Machir son of Manasseh, of the clans of Manasseh, son of Joseph. The names of his daughters were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah.  2  They stood before Moses, Eleazar the priest, the leaders, and all the congregation, at the entrance of the tent of meeting, saying,  3  “Our father died in the wilderness; he was not among the congregation of those who gathered themselves together against the Lord in the congregation of Korah but died for his own sin, and he had no sons.  4  Why should the name of our father be taken away from his clan because he had no son? Give to us a possession among our father’s brothers.” 5  Moses brought their case before the Lord.  6  And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,  7  “The daughters of Zelophehad are right in what they are saying; you shall indeed let ...

God, the Best Basketball Coach: Isaiah 51:1-6

Ordinary Time “Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness     and who seek the Lord: Look to the rock from which you were cut     and to the quarry from which you were hewn; 2  look to Abraham, your father,     and to Sarah, who gave you birth. Minimizing God: Acts 28: 1-10

Transfiguration Sunday After we had reached safety, we then learned that the island was called Malta.  2  The natives showed us unusual kindness. Since it had begun to rain and was cold, they kindled a fire and welcomed all of us around it.  3  Paul had gathered a bundle of brushwood and was putting it on the fire, when a viper, driven out by the heat, fastened itself on his hand.  4  When the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “This man must be a murderer; though he has escaped from the sea, justice has not allowed him to live.”  5  He, however, shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm.  6  They were expecting him to swell up or drop dead, but after they had waited a long time and saw that nothing unusual had happened to him, they changed their minds and began to say that he was a god. 7  Now in the neighborhood of that place were lands belonging to the leading man of...

Testify: John 1:1-18

Second Sunday of Christmas In the beginning was the Word    and the Word was with God    and the Word was God.    The Word was with God in the beginning.    Everything came into being through the Word, and without the Word  nothing came into being. What came into being through the Word was life, and the life was the light for all people. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness doesn’t extinguish the light. A man named John was sent from God.  He came as a witness to testify concerning the light, so that through him everyone would believe in the light.  He himself wasn’t the light, but his mission was to testify concerning the light. The true light that shines on all people was coming into the world. The light was in the world,  and the world came into being through the light,  but the world didn’t recognize the light. The light came to his own people,...
